Microwave to Molecules
Atmospheric Microwave Plasma (AMP)
Maat Energy’s core technology uses a platform based upon atmospheric microwave plasmas (AMP).
The platform provides advantages over other non-thermal and thermal plasma reactors:
operation at lower temperature by the use of a gas-phase catalyst in the plasma region
higher throughput by operating at atmospheric pressure
elimination of heat labile materials next to the plasma region
reduced power consumption because nearly 100% efficient coupling to plasma
free of electrode cooling and wear through electrodeless operation and through the use of flows that cool the reactor
reduced down time and lower maintenance with electrodeless operation while avoiding sensitive dielectrics next to the plasma
low capital cost because of volume production of magnetrons for commercial applications
Industrial plants would be comprised of multiple modules at modest power/throughput, integrating modules to build larger systems at multi MW levels.
Key Benefits of AMP
Flexible use of natural gas or biogas as feedstock
Efficient conversion of microwave to heat to pyrolyze methane
Continuous production and separation process of hydrogen and carbon
High production rate of hydrogen and carbon products
Fast response to change load of the electrical grid
Inexpensive components (high volume manufacturing)
