Petrochemicals Europe, an industry group of Cefic, has recently updated its flowchart, illustrating the complex journey of petrochemicals from raw materials to everyday products. 

Their updated chart reflects the industry’s journey to reaching climate goals, featuring new sources of feedstock such as bio naphtha, bioethanol, pyrolysis oil, hydrogen, and bio and recycled materials. Additionally, the industry is working on innovative technologies like the electrification of cracker furnaces and sites, carbon capture and storage, recycling, and improving product and process safety. 

By embracing new sources of feedstock and energy, and investing in new technologies, the petrochemicals industry is taking an important step towards a more sustainable future, while still providing the essential building blocks for modern life.
